Optometrist
Dr. Joanne Gronquist attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, California for her undergraduate work and received her Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1997. She completed an additional optional residency in Cornea and External Disease with an emphasis on LASIK co-management at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. Gronquist is passionate about her profession and is a Past-President of the Tri-County Optometric Society and continues to serve as the Chair of Governmental Affairs.
She enjoys seeing patients of all ages, including infants as young as 6 months old through the InfantSee program. In addition to providing routine comprehensive eye examinations, Dr. Joanne’s practice emphasis is on specialty contact lenses, LASIK and cataract co-management, and glaucoma treatment and management. She particularly focuses on taking the time to explain everything to her patients so they can understand their eye conditions to preserve their vision for the rest of their lives.
Optometrist
Dr. Tem Gronquist completed his undergraduate work at the University of California at Santa Barbara and received his doctorate at the University of California at Berkeley in 1997. As a member of the American and California Optometric Associations, he enjoys staying abreast with current trends in modern eye care. He also volunteers for infantsee.org.
Dr. Tem is especially experienced with the management of chronic ocular diseases like dry eyes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy, as well as more acute conditions like eye infections and complications related to contact lenses. He takes a methodical and thorough approach to eye care to ensure lifelong ocular health.
Dr. Tem Gronquist was born in Connecticut and grew up in Boston and Santa Barbara. He and his wife, Joanne, are the proud parents of two daughters, Audrey and Sierra. In his spare time, he enjoys windsurfing, biking, and surfing.
Optician
Most patients will know him by the name “Don”. Don has been with our practice since 2014 but has been a licensed optician since 2010. His many years in the profession have given him the experience to provide exceptional care with attention to detail regarding eyewear. He strives to go above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking in the foothills of Santa Barbara, tennis, and photography.
Optometric Assistant
Estela joined our team in 2022 and has been expertly running all front desk duties as well as assisting the doctors with preliminary testing.
Ophthalmic Technician
Taylor joined our team in 2022 and is our Ophthalmic Technician. She assists the doctors with preliminary testing and special testing for glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other ocular diseases. Taylor also submits eyewear orders to the lab and completes the final inspections before dispensing. Taylor is a former competitive gymnast who now enjoys Crossfit in her spare time.
